NZ Wild Ltd operate the Fairlight Range as a Firearms Safety Authority certified shooting range, open to sporting and shooting clubs and the general public. Scheduled open days enable the community to come and use the shooting range at low cost.
The range is usually open from 10am to 3pm on the first Sunday of the month, and other days by arrangement/notification (limited availability). Check with Shaun by text 0274421605 or email info@wildskills.co.nz
Range Fees
The range fees are $20 per person for guests holding a firearms licence
The range is open for sporting and hunting rifles and is authorised for the use of:
- Bolt action centre fire and rimfire
- Shotguns all types
- Semi-automatic rimfire
- P endorsed firearms with appropriate current endorsement
Supply your own targets and stapler. Be prepared to produce your Firearms Licence please.
No dogs are allowed on the Range (this includes those left in vehicles). This is a working farm with sheep and cattle. If you bring your dog you will be asked to leave and take it home. There are no exceptions.

How to Find the Range
– When driving South on SH 6 driving to Garston after passing Cainard Road you will see Begg’s Road on the left. Fairlight range entrance is 200 meters further on the left hand side at the layby. RD 1195 to RD 1197.
– A black sign with a white arrow on a road cone will show the turn off. This is the entry to Fairlight Range.
– Follow the seal onto a gravel road across a stock grate look ahead for the red flag and two buildings. – – Keep your speed to 20 km per hour.
– Park behind the buildings.
– Sometimes farm gates are shut for stock. Please leave all gates as you found them.
